StarSkate Group (Preliminary Prep)
The StarSkate Group program (formerly Preliminary Prep) introduces skaters to the skills of figure skating in a group lesson format. It is an EXCELLENT first step when moving from the CanSkate program to the Skate Canada StarSkate private lesson program. The program runs three (3) one-hour sessions per week beginning in October.
Each day the group session will be split into three (3) twenty-minute segments. Two of the segments will be under the direction of one or more NCCP certified professional coaches registered with Skate Canada. The third segment will be practice time for the skaters to individually work on skills they have learned and learn how to work on their own. Lessons will be set up for learning techniques in the beginning levels of Ice Dance, Free Skating and Skating Skills. This program gives both the skater and the parent excellent exposure to the professional coaches affiliated with HHSC.
Participants should be at a CanSkate Level 4 or above.
Group members are offered weekly “off-ice” training on Saturday afternoons. This dryland training will help the skaters development of core strength to prevent injury, speed up the learning of technique and to develop strong relationships with other members of the skating club.
